Skadden ranked first in M&A by dollar value of deals globally and in the United States — representing both principals and in any advisory role — according to year-end rankings from both Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. The firm's lawyers advised on six of the top 10 (and three of the top five) announced U.S. transactions in 2009, according to Thomson Reuters.

In the United States, Skadden ranked first by value of M&A deals in the financial services sector and second in the health care sector.

In Bloomberg's capital markets league table, Skadden ranked first, by deal count, and second, by value, in representing issuers of U.S. IPOs. The firm also ranked in the top 10 for:

The Daily Deal Bankruptcy M&A Rankings
The Daily Deal (Oct. 22, 2009) named Skadden as the top bankruptcy M&A law firm based on the number of active cases as of Oct. 20, 2009. The publication also listed two of our Corporate Restructuring partners among the top five bankruptcy M&A lawyers for the same period.
The National Law Journal
Skadden ranked first among law firms representing Fortune 100 companies on corporate transactions, according to a survey published in the September 14, 2009, issue of The National Law Journal. For its annual "Who Represents Corporate America" issue, the newspaper used research for 2008 from Thomson Reuters.
Asian-Counsel
Skadden has been named Asian-Counsel Firm of the Year for Real Estate in Japan. The "Asian-Counsel Representing Corporate Asia" is a survey sent to 15,000 individual in-house lawyers and senior company directors in Asia and the Middle East, which asks them which firms they "prefer to use."
