"I joined Skadden after spending a long career primarily in banking. I wanted to diversify my industry exposure and Skadden is best in class. The transition outside my comfort zone was seamless, and I quickly realized that Skadden truly celebrates the diversity of experiences and fresh perspectives.
Our HR agenda is forward-thinking and exemplary. We not only focus on best practices, but also strive to distinguish ourselves.
At Skadden, we set the bar high on being a powerhouse employer of choice — not only in theory but in practice. It is a unique privilege to work for Skadden and that’s obvious to anyone who is fortunate to join the team.
We expect a lot from our employees, but it is always met with great rewards and continuous recognition. The resources and support available are limitless, and we never short-change on the positive employee experience."Wahida KhanHR Manager
"I joined the firm as a legal secretary in 2008 and in a couple of years a position opened in the attorney development and recruiting department. I am so happy I took advantage of this opportunity and fortunate that Skadden has always been very supportive of my professional and personal growth.
I enjoy the fact that my role allows me to assist our attorneys, and I learn something new every day! What I like best about being part of Skadden are the people — everyone always comes together to make things work. At the end of the day, that camaraderie only makes us a greater team."Sarika SharmaAttorney Development and Training Coordinator
"After 30 years at Skadden I can honestly say that I still look forward to coming to work each day. I believe this is true for two reasons: the professional growth I have experienced and the incredibly special people that make up the Skadden fabric.
In 1984, I interviewed at Skadden for a receptionist position. I had a very limited academic background, but I was willing to work really hard and truly believed in the Skadden standard of only the very best would do. Skadden gave me countless opportunities to grow and learn and, as a result, I am now the banking practice area manager with both a college degree and a law school degree. I also have had the amazing privilege of working with some of the most talented, caring, brilliant and committed people I have ever met. Skadden is truly a work place of opportunity."Carol Nulty DoodyBanking Practice Group Manager
"I started at Skadden 10 years ago as a floating night secretary, allowing me daytime flexibility to be with my three small children. As my family’s needs changed, Skadden provided me the opportunity to work as a partner/counsel secretary during the day, which I preferred. Skadden provides flexibility while also promoting opportunities for growth."Monica KoonceSecretary
"I have been at Skadden for 12 years and started by leading a small team of technical litigation support specialists. The firm's culture, which fosters teamwork and growth, has provided me the opportunities to expand the group's responsibilities.
From supporting the Litigation practice, we have since expanded to support several other departments throughout the firm, such as Records, Conflicts and the General Counsel's Office. Skadden's management encourages and rewards hard work and efficiency. The constant challenges that are presented in a firm of Skadden's size has made it possible to advance my career goals by expanding my staff and firm-wide responsibilities while also keeping the work interesting."Mik WenczlGlobal Manager of Legal Technology Technical Operations & Information Governance
"When I started my professional career as a legal assistant at Skadden, I quickly discovered that the firm is driven by people who are at the cutting edge of their industry and passionate about their work. The environment was hectic and the standards were high, but working in this fast-paced environment with the consummate experts for which Skadden is known shaped my work ethic and professional skills tremendously.
After a few years as a legal assistant, I transferred to a different position in the Client Administration department. The fact that I was able to make such a distinct change to my career path at Skadden is an indication of how much the firm values its employees, encouraging everyone to continually grow and improve both personally and professionally. Dedication, innovation and hard work are defining characteristics of the firm, and employees that exemplify these traits will find that opportunities await them within Skadden. By being able to explore one of the many career paths offered, I found the position that suited both my abilities and my personal goals. I wouldn't be in the position I am in today were it not for the help and encouragement I received all along the way."Stephan BellDirector of Client Administration
"Working in the Facilities department for 24 years has afforded me the opportunity to handle so many different projects with so many people on all levels. It also has allowed me to do something that I truly enjoy: helping people. Leading by example and taking a positive approach to getting things done have contributed to my success."Cliff McManusFacilities Services Supervisor
"After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara, I wanted to gain some real world legal experience before tossing my hat into the law school applicant pool. Little did I know at the time that I would soon be part of one of the most prestigious law firms on the globe.
During my time at Skadden, I have been presented with many challenging assignments and situations that encouraged me to reach beyond my comfort zone. As a result, I have acquired many new skills. Although I work in the Los Angeles office, I have developed professional relationships with attorneys in other offices throughout the country. I even had the opportunity to go to New York and be the lead legal assistant for an arbitration.
Above all other things, the best part of working at Skadden is the comradery. Whenever I am faced with a complex assignment, my colleagues always are willing to give me their advice and support. My experience here has been nothing short of remarkable. After working in Los Angeles for nearly two years, I was presented with the opportunity to work at the Skadden Hong Kong office. I look forward to discovering what insightful and character-building experiences Hong Kong has in store for me."William SchumannLegal Assistant
