As part of our diversity and inclusion initiatives, we are deeply committed to the retention and advancement of women attorneys. Nineteen percent of our partners, 44 percent of our associates and 35 percent of our counsel are women. Women partners hold leadership positions as practice and office leaders and as chairs or members of our Policy, Compensation and Partner Committees. For the past four years, Skadden has received the Women in Law Empowerment Forum's Gold Standard Certification for "law firms that have integrated women into the highest leadership positions in the firm." In addition, we were named "Law Firm of the Year: U.S. Northeast" at Euromoney's 2012 "Americas Women in Business Law Awards" and were the only firm to be a finalist for both the "Most Innovative Gender Diversity Initiative" and "Best Mentoring in a Law Firm" awards at the 2012 Chambers USA "Women in Law Awards."
Our global Women’s Initiatives Committee recommends, implements and monitors efforts related to the overall professional development of women lawyers at the firm. The committee supports our continued efforts to attract and develop a pipeline of successful women lawyers at all levels. Among those efforts is a six-month leadership program for high-performing senior women associates and counsel who have been selected on the basis of their developmental potential; a biannual women's retreat for our women partners and clients; the Skadden Series for Women lectures; the creation of an internal women attorney's blog conversations; and the sponsorship of our Women's Affinity Group, which provides women associates and counsel with leadership opportunities and a voice in the design of firm initiatives related to the recruitment, retention, development and advancement of women.
