Daniele Schiffman has represented clients in connection with numerous congressional, government and internal investigations. These include investigations by the state attorneys general; the Federal Trade Commission; the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation; the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations; and the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. Her work has included developing investigation strategies, preparing witnesses, and managing subpoenas and substantial document discovery efforts.

Representative cases have included:

  • a marketing firm in an investigation by the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation into e-commerce marketing practices;
  • a company in investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general into alleged unfair and deceptive acts and practices;
  • a major financial services firm in connection with a possible insider trading investigation; and
  • a U.S. multinational corporation in an investigation by the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations into alleged offshore profit shifting.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Schiffman spent five years as a senior policy analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, investigating how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars and briefing congressional staff on her findings. Ms. Schiffman worked on matters including voting irregularities in national elections, implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act, and the safety of weapons of mass destruction in Russia.

Ms. Schiffman serves as an advisory neighborhood commissioner for the Single Member District 6C01, a position she was elected to in 2012. She advises the district government on matters of public policy including decisions regarding planning, streets, recreation, social services programs, health and safety for the Capitol Hill area.
