Lisa R. D'Avolio
Lisa R. D’Avolio practices in Skadden’s Labor and Employment Law Group, where she advises clients on a broad range of matters relating to the employment relationship. Ms. D’Avolio counsels companies in a variety of industries on labor and employment matters arising out of U.S. and international corporate transactions. In addition, she regularly represents employers before federal and state courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels. Her litigation experience includes defense of discrimination, wrongful termination and breach of contract claims as well as Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower complaints. She also represents clients in cases involving federal and state wage and hour violations and the enforcement of employment contracts and restrictive covenants.
Ms. D’Avolio also advises clients on a wide array of workplace matters, including disciplinary and termination issues as well as compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, workplace health and safety laws, and whistleblower protections. She has significant experience in conducting workplace internal investigations and reductions in force, and regularly negotiates and drafts complex agreements relating to employment, retention, consulting, separation and restrictive covenants.
Another important aspect of Ms. D’Avolio’s practice is providing immigration-related advice and assistance to clients. She often obtains non-immigrant work visas on behalf of foreign nationals whom clients seek to employ in the United States and advises employers in connection with corporate transactions where the transfer of foreign national executives to the United States and other immigration matters are at issue.
Ms. D’Avolio has represented employers such as Dell Inc.; Cost Plus, Inc.; The Walt Disney Company; Nike, Inc.; The Bureau of National Affairs; The Carnegie Hall Corporation; JPMorgan Chase; AFLAC; Deere & Company; and BearingPoint, Inc.
