Lisa R. D’Avolio practices in Skadden’s labor and employment law department, where she advises clients on a broad range of employment-related matters. She regularly represents employers before federal and state courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels. Her litigation experience includes defense of discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract and fraud claims, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower complaints. She also represents clients in cases involving federal and state wage and hour violations and the enforcement of employment contracts and restrictive covenants.
In addition, Ms. D’Avolio counsels clients on a wide array of non-litigation matters. In particular, she advises employers in connection with disciplinary and termination issues and the adoption of workplace policies and procedures. She also consults with clients in training management regarding sexual harassment laws, assists in conducting workplace internal investigations and reductions in force, and negotiates and drafts employment and separation agreements. Ms. D’Avolio also is experienced in the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
Another important aspect of Ms. D’Avolio’s practice is providing immigration-related advice and assistance to clients. For example, she often obtains non-immigrant work visas on behalf of foreign nationals whom clients seek to employ in the United States and advises employers in connection with corporate transactions where the transfer of foreign national executives to the United States and other immigration matters are at issue.
Ms. D’Avolio has represented employers such as JPMorgan Chase, American Express, AFLAC, Deere & Company, Yahoo! Inc., BearingPoint, Inc. and Rite Aid Corporation.
