Vaughn Williams’ litigation practice emphasizes securities and corporate litigation, including class action litigation and other commercial litigation.

For example, he represented a syndicate of underwriters in securities class action litigation arising from their underwriting of WorldCom Inc. bonds. He also represented Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in a series of national class actions arising from Massachusetts Mutual’s sale of insurance products, as well as The American Express Company in an arbitration and litigation arising from its acquisition of Lifeco Services Corporation and in a trial in the Southern District of New York arising from its sale of Firemen’s Fund Employees Insurance Company.

In addition, Mr. Williams has represented Sterling Drugs Inc., Richardson-Vicks Inc., Buffalo Forge Comp­any, Rite Aid Corporation, Sea Land Corporation, Pullman Inc., City Investing Inc., Burnup & Sims Inc., Puritan Fashions Corporation and Revlon Group, Inc. in merger and acquisition-related litigation.

Mr. Williams also has advised numerous companies in investigations undertaken by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the New York Stock Exchange and other regulatory agencies.

Mr. Williams is also active in Skadden’s pro bono practice and is a member of the firm committee that administers the Skadden, Arps Fellowship Program and is co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee.
