Diversity & Inclusion
Founded as a three-lawyer shop in Manhattan in 1948, Skadden rose to prominence in the ’60s and ’70s by taking on the proxy fights and hostile tender offers that white-shoe law firms deemed “ungentlemanly.” We leveraged our success in that area to build one of the world’s preeminent law firms, offering clients in every major international financial center solutions to the most challenging legal issues in virtually every area of corporate law.
For the second year in a row, Skadden has received TopLegal's "Italian Desk" award (November 23, 2015), recognizing our work for Italian clients over the last 12 months. This is the third award our European attorneys received in 2015 for their representation of Italian clients.
JUVE has recognized 10 Skadden practices in its 2015-16 ranking of Germany's leading law firms (October 2015).
Chambers UK has recognized 13 Skadden practices, 24 partners and three counsel in its 2016 guide (October 2015). In Litigation, the firm was elevated from "Highly Regarded" to "Elite," the publication's highest Litigation bracket. Skadden also raised two tiers in Public International Law. In rankings of leading individuals, we received new rankings in Financial Crime, Insurance, International Arbitration, Litigation and Tax and a promotion in Public International Law.
Skadden is the leader in 2015 M&A deals involving real estate investment trusts both in the U.S. and worldwide, with about $18.5 billion worth of announced deals so far this year, according to Dealogic data published by Law360 (October 30, 2015).
