The California Diversity Council is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that champions workplace diversity and celebrates its impact on business and community.
Palo Alto IP Practice and Attorneys Ranked by Intellectual Asset Management
Skadden’s Palo Alto intellectual property and technology practices and partners were recognized in the 2014 editions of two Intellectual Asset Management publications. The Palo Alto IP practice was ranked in IAM Patent 1000, which identifies the top patent practices and practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe based on submissions, peer reviews and client feedback. Recognized Palo Alto attorneys were Jim Brelsford and James Elacqua. Jim Brelsford also was ranked in IAM Strategy 300, which recognizes 300 IP attorneys globally who were identified through client interviews and peer reviews as exceptional IP strategists.
Skadden Named ‘California Corporate Practice of the Year’
Skadden was selected by The Recorder as the “Top Overall Corporate Practice” in the publication’s “Corporate Practices of the Year” contest, which recognizes “the best transactional work done in 2013 by California-based teams.” The firm also was selected as a finalist in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Capital Markets categories. No other firm was recognized in all three categories.

Palo Alto intellectual property litigation partner James Elacqua was recognized as one of the “Top IP Lawyers” in California by the Daily Journal. The publication focused Mr. Elacqua’s complete defense verdict on behalf of Medtronic in a 2012 patent infringement case concerning stent medical devices.

Palo Alto Corporate partner Leif King has been named to The Recorder’s list of California’s 20 “Attorneys of the Year.” The publication highlighted Mr. King’s work on Yahoo! Inc’s $7.1 billion sale of a 20 percent stake in Alibaba Group Holding Limited, “a multistage, cross-border deal said to be the largest e-commerce M&A transaction in history.”
