Jim Brelsford Selected for Client Choice Award
Palo Alto intellectual property of counsel Jim Brelsford was selected for a 2015 Client Choice Award from Lexology and International Law Office. On the basis of nominations from corporate counsel, the award recognizes attorneys who "stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service."
Allen Ruby Receives Client Service Award
Palo Alto litigation partner Allen Ruby was among seven Skadden partners firmwide named as a 2015 "BTI Client Service All-Star," attorneys who stand out as "delivering the absolute best client service," according to a BTI survey.
Carrie LeRoy Recognized as a 'Legal Innovator'
Palo Alto intellectual property counsel Carrie LeRoy was named a winner of The Recorder's first-ever "Legal Innovators" awards, which honor original approaches to improving delivery of legal services to clients of all kinds. Ms. LeRoy was noted for her work in establishing "Know Your Rights and Know the Law: Sexual and Social Media Misconduct," a Palo Alto initiative under the firm's pro bono "Impact Project."
Sara Terheggen Named to ‘40 Under 40’
Palo Alto corporate associate Sara Terheggen was named to the Silicon Valley Business Journal's "40 Under 40," an annual listing of rising Silicon Valley leaders. The article noted Ms. Terheggen's representation of Yahoo in selling a portion of its stake in Alibaba and her involvement with several leadership groups, such as the Vision 2020 Campaign for Equality and 100 Women in Hedge Funds.
Allen Ruby Recognized as 'Attorney of the Year'
Palo Alto litigation partner Allen Ruby received the "Professional Lawyer of the Year" award from the Santa Clara County Bar Association. The award is given to active, respected practitioners who are chosen by their peers as an example of unimpeachable character and who serve as an embodiment of the standards set forth in the Santa Clara County Bar Association Code of Professionalism and as a role model for other attorneys practicing in Santa Clara County.
Kenton King and Joseph Yaffe Recognized Among ‘Top 100’
Palo Alto partners Kenton King (corporate) and Joseph Yaffe (executive compensation and benefits) were recognized by the Daily Journal in its annual list of the “Top 100” lawyers in California. The publication noted Mr. King’s representation of Nokia Corp. in the $7.1 billion sale of its devices and services business to Microsoft Corp. and Mr. Yaffe’s representation of numerous high-profile executives in Silicon Valley.

Jim Brelsford Named an 'Asia IP Expert'
Palo Alto intellectual property and technology of counsel Jim Brelsford was recognized as a leading lawyer in the 2014 edition of Asia IP Experts, in both the litigation and licensing/franchising categories. The publication ranks intellectual property attorneys practicing in Asia on the basis of recommendations from in-house counsel and other criteria.
Kenton King Named to LawDragon 's "500 Leading Lawyers" list
Palo Alto corporate partner Kenton King was recognized as one of "500 Leading Lawyers in America" by LawDragon, which noted Mr. King's representations on behalf of Nokia Corporation, Steinway Musical Instruments, and Sumitomo Mitsui Corporation. As in past years, Skadden had more partners named to the list than any other firm.
Palo Alto Partners Named '2015 Best Lawyers in America'

Amy Park Honored With Diversity Award
Palo Alto litigation partner Amy Park was recognized by the California Diversity Council as one of California’s “Most Powerful and Influential Women” for 2014 at the fifth annual California Diversity and Leadership Conference. The California Diversity Council is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that champions workplace diversity and celebrates its impact on business and community.
Palo Alto IP Practice and Attorneys Ranked by Intellectual Asset Management
Skadden’s Palo Alto intellectual property and technology practices and partners were recognized in the 2014 editions of two Intellectual Asset Management publications. The Palo Alto IP practice was ranked in IAM Patent 1000, which identifies the top patent practices and practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe based on submissions, peer reviews and client feedback. Recognized Palo Alto attorneys were Jim Brelsford and James Elacqua. Jim Brelsford also was ranked in IAM Strategy 300, which recognizes 300 IP attorneys globally who were identified through client interviews and peer reviews as exceptional IP strategists.
