Chambers USA 2013 Rankings and ‘Team of the Year’ Award

• 245 total attorney rankings, including 73 in Band 1;
• 89 total practice rankings, including 36 in Band 1; and
• Six "Star Individual" rankings.

Skadden also received the 2013 Chambers USA Award for Excellence for having the "Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Team of the Year."

Corporate Board Member: 2013 ‘America's Best Corporate Law Firms’

For 13 consecutive years, Skadden has been named the top U.S. corporate law firm in Corporate Board Member magazine’s annual survey of “America’s Best Corporate Law Firms” (May 2013), which asked directors of publicly traded companies to select the firms they would “most likely retain to handle a variety of corporate legal matters.”

The National Law Journal 2013 'Intellectual Property Hot List'

The National Law Journal has named Skadden to its annual "Intellectual Property Hot List" (May 6, 2013), which recognizes 20 law firms "that have demonstrated creative, formidable talent" in their intellectual property practices. The article stated that "come plaintiff or defendant, trial or not, Skadden's intellectual property lawyers were up to the challenge during the past year" and cited notable firm wins on behalf of Medtronic, Morgan Stanley and Aspen Technology.

2013 ‘BTI Brand Elite: Client Perceptions of the Best-Branded Law Firms’

For the second consecutive year, Skadden took the top spot in a report that identifies law firms with the strongest brands based on more than 500 interviews with top legal officers at global companies with an average revenue of $14.9 billion.

In the April 2013 “BTI Brand Elite: Client Perceptions of the Best-Branded Law Firms” report, Skadden was singled out among nearly 400 law firms for innovation, client service and consideration for hire, and premium value. BTI also noted that "corporate counsel point to Skadden’s thought leadership and client‐facing activities as innovative tools complementing the firm’s long‐time reputation as a premium leader."

The American Lawyer's 2013 'Corporate Scorecard'

Skadden ranked first among law firms as Principal Counsel for M&A transactions by value last year in The American Lawyer's annual "Corporate Scorecard" (April 2013).

Additionally, the firm ranked first as REIT Equity Issuer's Counsel by value and tied for first as Issuer's Counsel for non-U.S. IPOs by volume.

With 26 rankings, Skadden tied for the highest number overall. The firm's rankings include: M&A (Principal and Investment Counsel), Private Equity, Project Finance, U.S. and Non-U.S. IPOs (Issuer's Counsel), Equities (Issuer's Counsel), Investment-Grade Debt (Issuer's and Underwriter's Counsel), High-Yield Debt (Issuer's and Underwriter's Counsel), Asset-Backed Securities (Issuer's Counsel), REIT Debt (Issuer's and Underwriter's Counsel) and REIT Equity (Issuer's and Underwriter's Counsel).

2013 IFLR Americas and Europe Awards

Skadden received three awards at the International Financial Law Review Americas Awards Dinner on March 21, 2013, in New York: "M&A Team of the Year" (noting our work on the Amylin, Alibaba and Shelf Drilling transactions); "Equity Team of the Year" (for our IPO work for BTG Pactual and CEMEX); and "Equity Deal of the Year" (for the BTG Pactual IPO).

At IFLR's Europe Awards on April 10 in London, Skadden received two top honors, including "M&A Deal of the Year" (for our work on the Outokumpu transaction), which marked the second straight year the firm has won in this category; and "Private Equity Deal of the Year" (for advising HSE24's management in its reinvestment in the company in connection with AXA Private Equity’s sale of HSE24 to Providence Equity Partners).

Chambers Global 2013: 'Dispute Resolution Firm of the Year' and Rankings

Skadden has been selected by Chambers Global as the “Law Firm of the Year: Dispute Resolution” for 2013. We also were one of five firms globally on the short lists for “Law Firm of the Year: Competition/Antitrust” and “Law Firm of the Year: Corporate/M&A."

Additionally, 144 Skadden attorneys have been listed among the world's leading lawyers in Chambers Global's 2013 guide, published on March 15, 2013. The firm and its lawyers received 71 top-tier rankings.

Chambers Asia Pacific 2013 Rankings

Chambers Asia Pacific has recognized 30 Skadden practices and 18 lawyers among the region's leaders in its 2013 guide (March 5). Among other highlights, the firm was ranked in the top tier for:

Acritas 2013 'US Law Firm Brand Index'

Skadden again topped Acritas' "U.S. Law Firm Brand Index," published on Feb. 26, 2013. The survey asked more than 700 U.S.-based general counsel questions about which law firms first come to mind and which they most favor for certain legal services. Skadden ranked first in terms of usage for high-value work, top-of-mind awareness, top-level M&A, and general favorability.

2013 Legal Business Magazine Awards

For the second consecutive year, Skadden was named the “Dispute Resolution Team of the Year” at the Legal Business Awards in London on February 7, 2013. The firm was recognized for its landmark 2012 victory on behalf of Roman Abramovich in his $6 billion dispute with Boris Berezovsky, which was the largest case ever in the English Commercial Court and the largest private dispute in history.

The firm also was “commended” in the “Corporate Team of the Year” category, and London partner Douglas Nordlinger was “commended” in the “Lawyer of the Year” category for his work on behalf of the Republic of South Sudan.
