Junior Associate

Investment Management Group

The Investment Management Group of the Boston office is looking for an associate (class of 2019-2022) with experience in 1940 Act registered funds and business development company work. High level of academic achievement and experience in the investment management group of a peer firm is preferred.

Skadden’s Investment Management Group advises sponsors and underwriters on the structuring, offering, operation, ongoing financing and regulation of registered investment companies and business development companies, for whose boards of directors we also provide corporate and regulatory advice. We have played a major role in key developments and innovations in the investment management arena, including advice with respect to target term trusts, “no-load” offering structures and rights offerings for closed-end funds, preferred stock and other leveraging strategies for closed-end funds and registered private equity funds, and other types of privately offered registered investment companies. We have a market-leading practice representing registered closed-end funds and business development companies, including extensive experience addressing issues raised by market discounts and dissident investors seeking short-term profits for themselves at the expense of funds and their other shareholders.

Associates who join Skadden laterally participate in an enhanced mentor program, which specifically focuses on the unique needs experienced attorneys face during professional transitions.

These efforts, along with our professional development and other Skadden benefits including flexible schedules with work from home options, underscores Skadden's long-standing commitment to investing in its people, culture and diversity. We also have an extensive  pro bono program that allows attorneys to devote, and receive credit for, time for myriad causes that spark their interests and matches those interests with the legal needs in the community.
