The Opportunity
We are seeking an Asia Pacific Marketing & Communications Specialist/Senior Specialist to join our Firm. This position works closely with the Asia partners, Assistant Director, Global Marketing & Communications, and other Marketing & Communications Dept. members. Focuses on reinforcing the firm’s brand and developing and implementing strategic communications to further elevate the visibility of Skadden’s Asia offices, practices and partners. Strong focus on enhancing internal communications.
Works with the Assistant Director, Global Marketing & Communications on external communications initiatives, including media relations. Oversees social media, surveys and select directories, submissions for awards and other accolades. Works closely with other
- Media and PR activities for the firm’s Asia offices
- Cultivates strong relationships with key journalists across geographies at business, legal and other trade publications
- Generates and pitches stories showcasing the firm’s and partners’ expertise and accomplishments across Asia
- Writing and placement of press releases
- Helps train and prepare partners for conversations with the press
- Internal communications
- Drafts internal publications and other updates
- Helps draft speeches for Partners
- Prepares materials and handles the communication for Asia Pacific sections of legal directories (including Chambers, Legal 500, and IFLR1000) as well as awards and other recognition
- Supports thought leadership activities, including programs/events and publications
- Maintains news and profiles of Asia offices on website and social media platforms
- Works closely with leads of DEI, Pro Bono, HR and Graduate Recruitment, providing input on their external projects.
- Coordinates with Marketing & Communications Department members in other offices and serves as an information source regarding Skadden/Asia Pacific related information.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
- Manages firm resources responsibly.
- Complies with and understands firm operations, policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Asia’s business, legal and other trade press (coverage, tone, frequency, etc.) and strong business acumen
- Ability to identify and execute on media opportunities that support business development, branding and profile-raising goals
- Track record of innovative thinking and execution of new programs and ideas
- Strong writing and copywriting skills
- Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrates close attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to work well in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
- Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment
- Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree. Progressive responsibility in a law firm or other professional service firm environment
- Fluent in both spoken and written English
