The Opportunity

We are seeking a Client Accounting Supervisor, Asia to join our Firm. This position will oversee the billing function of the Asia offices.  Supervises the Asia billing team and coordinates with the client accounting function in New York.  Provides billing support and client account analysis to partners.  Proactively manages client accounting activity for assigned partners and practice areas utilizing appropriate departmental resources.  Provides suggestions and alternatives in order to improve the entire client accounting process.

  • Oversees the Asia client accounting (billing) team based in Hong Kong and ensures the team follows through with assigned Engagement Partners to complete all billing actions.
  • Prepares bills, reports and internal forms according to the Firm's policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the interview, selection and training process of the billing team.
  • Oversees employees’ work performance and provides guidance in the resolution of problems. Conducts monthly review of Asia partner investment reports.  Works closely with partners and secretaries to proactively handle client billing. 
  • Actively seeks to effect implementation of Client Accounting procedures, processes and goals by coordinating work effort, including but not limited to, timely preparation of client bills and follow-up on outstanding balances with partners, secretarial and other Firm staff.
  • Develops strong working relationships with others in the department and clients where applicable, to maximize collection processes.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Communicates with internal and external clients in a manner that is professional, knowledgeable and reflective of the Firm’s strategy with respect to billing outstanding amounts.
  • Ensures current knowledge of Firm policies and practice, current knowledge of industry trends, and continued professional development for business services professionals.
  • Maintains complete and up-to-date files for each partner and/or client.
  • Actively seeks to enhance knowledge of all Client Accounting procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Aderant or equivalent accounting software), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to effectively supervise others
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team and acts as a role model for Client Accounting team
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent required
  • Minimum of eight years’ related experience
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Proficient in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • Must possess the right to work in Hong Kong
