Job Summary

Skadden's Palo Alto office is seeking a Regional Technology Trainer to perform training of the Firm's core applications for its west coast offices: Palo Alto, CA and Los Angeles, CA. This position will be responsible for preparing plan course materials, organizing, training and promoting the OneSkadden training program in the regional California offices. The Regional Technology Trainer will collaborate with the Global Training Manager to ensure availability and timely access to Firm-provided programs/materials, new training initiatives, handouts, class syllabi, etc. 

This individual will also be responsible for coordinating with department heads, Human Resources, end users and attorneys to assess individual/group training needs and promote in-house training resources such as SkillPort, theSlate, and other appropriate online learning resources for the regional offices.

  • Provides a consistent and high level of customer service.
  • Delivers standard Firm software application and hardware technology training.
  • Assists on special technology projects, providing workflow analysis, documentation and development in the regional offices.
  • Develops and distributes training schedules for the regional offices.
  • Holds training labs for assistance with special projects and offers time on an open-ended basis to make-up missed classes for the regional offices.
  • Provides weekly training reports to the Global Training Manager
  • Presents Technology Orientation to all new arrivals, ensuring a professional "Day One" training experience in the regional offices.
  • Provides customized training in accordance to specific needs of the regional offices.
  • Provides feedback to management and recommends further training, assessment and follow-ups accordingly for the local office.
  • Provides global training in accordance with the needs of the firm in the regional offices.
  • Checks "Work Strategies" on SharePoint in a timely manner.
  • Provides on-going continuing education and Word certification series training to legal secretaries and document processing in the regional offices.
  • Presents expert training on mobile devices to attorneys and management.
  • Presents expert training on WebEx in the regional offices.
  • Provides regional technology support as required with a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrates logic, reasoning skills, analysis and interpretation to resolve problems.
  • Works with the firm's trainers to maintain and improve the standardization of technology training.
  • Balances the training needs of all regional offices assigned to ensure all local needs are fulfilled.
  • Helps develop custom forms and templates for specific department use.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Performs frequent physical exertion including:  walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive use of both hands, lifting or carrying up to ten (10) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manages firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • A basic understanding of the Citrix based desktop applications
  • Understanding of the technical aspect of the applications to be able to assess and provide troubleshooting feedback 
  • Able to adapt to different situations and is capable of covering activities ranging from basic first line support to assisting with the Firm's IT projects
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent/sound judgment
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) with the ability to learn additional software and operating systems; Microsoft Office User Certification is a plus
  • Thorough working knowledge of Firm systems including but not limited to Citrix, eDocs DM, mobile device technology and apps, WebEx, Cisco Jabber, DTE, Chrome River, Litera ChangePro & Metadact, Power PDF, SnagIt, Windows and Mac operating environments, legal technology systems and other relevant firm and legal applications
  • Provides excellent customer service through effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Bachelor's Degree or post-graduate degree; and
  • Minimum of five years' experience with software training and training coordination
  • Prior experience providing training on Microsoft Office applications
