Today, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) announced that it will distribute a confidential electronic survey to registered municipal advisors to assess the business activities of municipal advisory professionals. The survey, which will run from the week of June 16, 2014, to early July 2014, is intended to aid the MSRB in developing a municipal advisor professional qualification exam. The qualification exam was included earlier this spring by the MSRB as part of proposed amendments to Rules G-2 and G-3. For more on the exam and other proposed professional qualification requirements, see our memorandum of March 26, 2014.
The survey will be distributed to designated regulatory contacts at registered municipal advisor firms, as well as other interested parties. The MSRB also announced that it will host a webinar on the survey on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
