Jeffrey Glekel

Jeffrey Glekel handles commercial litigation as well as constitutional law matters. Mr. Glekel, a former assistant United States attorney, often represents corporations and individuals who are the victims of, or who are accused of, financial fraud.

Having served as a law clerk in the U.S. Supreme Court and written about constitutional law, Mr. Glekel also represents clients challenging the constitutionality of statutes and regulations. Mr. Glekel argued successfully before the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Anheuser-Busch, Inc.’s challenge to the constitutionality of state statutes that restrict the pricing of beer and persuaded the Court to overrule a prior decision upholding such statutes. He represented before the New York Court of Appeals a property owner who challenged the constitutionality of certain restrictions imposed by New York’s rent control legislation.

In addition, on behalf of the MTA, Mr. Glekel persuaded the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse an injunction which barred a fare increase on New York City subways and buses.

Mr. Glekel also defended the former chief executive officer of Wedtech against criminal charges in the highly publicized Wedtech trial. On appeal, he persuaded the Second Circuit to reverse most of his client’s convictions on the grounds that he had not received a fair trial.

Mr. Glekel has authored numerous articles and book reviews for legal publications on criminal and constitutional law as well as other areas of the law.
