Oshan James primarily advises public and private companies on a broad range of U.S. federal income tax issues, with particular focus on international tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, corporate restructurings and joint ventures. He also has advised on compliance with international standards of transparency and information exchange for the government of the British Virgin Islands.

Mr. James has worked on matters for ACE Group; AstraZeneca PLC; Barclays Bank PLC; BlackRock, Inc.; Eli Lilly and Company; Medical Professional Mutual Insurance Company; Mylan Inc.; the National Football League; Scor SE; State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company; Tupperware Brands Corporation; TPG Capital; and Tyco International Ltd.

Prior to joining Skadden, Mr. James was an international tax manager in the Washington National Tax office of Deloitte Tax LLP, where he spent five years advising on the U.S. federal income tax treatment of a variety of cross-border transactions. Before his career in international tax, Mr. James was chief financial officer and chief compliance officer of Alerian Capital Management in New York City, where he oversaw the reporting, compliance and risk management functions of a fund with $200 million of assets under management.
