Jens Koenig
Dr. Jens Koenig has significant experience representing clients in German, U.S. and multinational regulatory investigations, including those brought by German district attorneys, German tax authorities, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Bio

Dr. Koenig has conducted several internal investigations and has substantial experience representing clients in cross-border matters, including investigations concerning financial fraud, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the economic sanctions laws administered by OFAC. He has represented clients and conducted investigations in various international jurisdictions.

Dr. Koenig also advises clients in domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions.

His representations have included, among others:

  • a foreign financial institution in a regulatory investigation concerning potential violations of U.S. sanctions laws;
  • a foreign financial institution in a cross-border tax investigation;
  • Halder Beteiligungsberatung GmbH in its acquisition of Amoena Group, a manufacturer of silicone breast prosthetics and complementary functional apparel for women after breast surgery;
  • foreign financial institutions in U.S. tax investigations;
  • a supervisory board of a German financial institution in a state investigation concerning equity and derivative transactions around record dates;
  • Barclays Private Equity in its acquisition and sale of Siteco Group, a European manufacturer and supplier of technical interior and exterior lighting equipment;
  • Silverfleet Capital (formerly PPM Capital) in its sale of European Dental Partners, a dental consumables distributor operating in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe; and
  • a global car manufacturer in an FCPA investigation.
