Bio
Trained in both civil and common law, Caio Pazinato represents a wide variety of clients in international arbitration and litigation matters, including complex disputes arising out of transactions and other cross-border affairs.
Since joining Skadden in 2020, Mr. Pazinato has represented, among others:
- a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer in an AAA/ICDR arbitration against a U.S. aircraft manufacturer involving the termination of a multibillion-dollar merger agreement and the termination of a large joint venture agreement
- a U.S. biopharmaceutical company specializing in cutting-edge cancer treatments in a multijurisdictional dispute against a Brazilian biopharmaceutical company involving breach of contract claims brought simultaneously in the U.S. and Brazil
- a French company in a large dispute venued in Paris and governed by French law
- a Mexican conglomerate in proceedings concerning the termination of a prospective merger and sale agreement of a Brazil-based entertainment company
- multiple companies involved in the development, construction and sale of renewable energy assets in the U.S. concerning contractual rights and available remedies
- multinational corporations in connection with investigations related to government contracts in Latin America
Prior to joining Skadden, he worked for several years at a major law firm based in Brazil, where he represented, among others:
- a U.S. private equity firm in a complex multijurisdictional dispute involving numerous lawsuits and arbitrations related to the annulment of a share purchase agreement
- a Korean company in the heavy machinery industry in an international arbitration and subsequent proceedings to enforce the award against its Brazilian exclusive distributor
- a European company in a multiparty construction arbitration against Brazilian and European companies concerning one of the arenas built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup
- a European public relations firm in multijurisdictional arbitration and court disputes against a Brazilian shareholder involving the exercise of a call option
- a U.S. buyer in the water and hygiene industry in a post-acquisition arbitration against a Brazilian seller involving noncompete, nonsolicitation and earnout issues
In recognition of his work, Mr. Pazinato has been named a Rising Legal Star by Latinvex.
As part of his pro bono work, Mr. Pazinato has represented various individuals in immigration matters, including those seeking asylum and special immigrant juvenile status.
