Skadden Establishes Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

Skadden, Arps is pleased to announce that we have established a $40,000 college scholarship through the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF). The scholarship will support a JRF/Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP Scholar for the next four years, beginning this fall. The firm's sponsorship also enables the scholar, chosen through a highly competitive selection process, to access mentoring, internships, leadership training, financial planning and career counseling through JRF's Education and Leadership Development Program. Skadden is the first law firm to fund a JRF scholarship and joins other leading organizations that have partnered with the foundation to sponsor diverse, high-potential undergraduates.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation was founded 33 years ago by Rachel Robinson, wife of the legendary athlete, businessman, civil rights champion and philanthropist. The foundation provides scholarships, and other education, leadership and career development services to achieving minority college students who demonstrate financial need and who embody the enduring spirit and principles of Mr. Robinson, Major League Baseball's first African American player. The Jackie Robinson Foundation enjoys a graduation rate of over 97%, which is more than twice the national average for minority students.
