American Express Sells Banking Unit

Skadden is representing American Express in the sale of its banking unit, American Express Bank Ltd., to Standard Chartered PLC for $1.1 billion. The two firms announced they had agreed to the transaction on Sept. 19. American Express Bank is a leading international bank that serves financial institutions and high net worth customers, with operations in 47 countries.
