Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Service Project

Skadden's first formal Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service project, coordinated by City Year New York, took place on Monday, January 18. The firm was represented by a team of 65 volunteers, including partners, counsel, associates and support staff, their family members and friends, and Skadden scholars in the Legal Honors Program at the City College of New York. The team was assigned to Middle School 424/Hyde Leadership Charter School in the Hunts Points community of the South Bronx. Skadden volunteers built bookshelves, and painted a community room, inspirational murals and canvas banners that will revitalize the schools' classrooms, corridors and cafeteria.

Our colleagues and guests' volunteerism exemplify the firm's deep commitment to service and giving back to our communities.

City Year New York trains young adults to mentor and tutor NYC public school students, and works with various agencies to help improve student attendance, academic performance and retention rates through high school.
