Skadden represented Stephen Richards, former head of sales at Computer Associates, now known as CA, Inc., in securing a time-served sentence from Judge I. Leo Glasser in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on Oct. 13. At the time of his resentencing, Mr. Richards had served three-and-one-half years of the seven-year sentence he received in 2006 after pleading guilty to securities fraud. In August 2010, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit agreed with Skadden's argument that an error had been made in calculating Mr. Richards’ sentence under the federal sentencing guidelines, and vacated the sentence and remanded for resentencing.
