Palo Alto litigation partner José Allen was featured in the March 2011 issue of California Lawyer magazine as a recipient of the 2011 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year Awards. Annually, the magazine recognizes attorneys throughout the state for work that had a significant impact in the prior year. Mr. Allen was recognized for his role in an important case for disability rights in California. Working with co-counsel from Disability Rights Advocates, Mr. Allen and a team of Skadden lawyers secured a $1.1 billion settlement — the largest of its kind in the nation — from the California Department of Transportation, pledged for upgrading access for people with disabilities.
