State Farm Wins Affirmance in Installment Fee Case

Skadden earned an appellate win for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in connection with a proposed class action alleging the company unlawfully charged customers policy fees and asserted claims for, among other causes, breach of contract and violations of California's Unfair Competition Law. On December 13, the California Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed the trial court's grant of a demurrer by State Farm to the plaintiffs' fourth amended complaint without leave to amend, and reversed the trial court's order requiring State Farm to bear the burden of paying almost $714,000 in costs.
