Skadden helped secure the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit's affirmance of several summary judgment rulings in patent litigation against firm clients Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley, as well as several other financial services firms, which Realtime Data accused of infringing upon its patents directed to data compression and decompression technology. On January 27, the Federal Circuit affirmed the district court's holding, also secured with Skadden's assistance, of non-infringement "in all respects" as well as the holding of invalidity due to insufficient written description.
