A team from our Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, D.C. offices helped secure summary judgment and a permanent injunction forever precluding the enforcement as to U.S. citizens of a Louisiana law requiring foreign-born people to present certified birth certificates to obtain marriage licenses. On August 8, a federal district court ruled that the law is unconstitutional.
