Skadden is pleased to welcome Ron Berenblat as of counsel in the shareholder engagement and activism practice. Mr. Berenblat previously served as a partner in the shareholder activism practice at another law firm, where he advised numerous hedge funds and other large investors on their activism campaigns. He has extensive experience providing guidance on proxy contests, withhold campaigns, stock accumulations, hostile takeover bids, corporate governance issues and securities law matters.
Skadden’s shareholder engagement and activism practice also welcomed Elizabeth Gonzalez-Sussman as its head in 2024. The firm continues to be recognized as a top legal adviser to companies facing shareholder activists and has handled numerous significant shareholder activism matters involving high-profile companies across a broad spectrum of industries and jurisdictions.
“For nearly 25 years, Ron has advised on some of the most high-profile and complex activist campaigns,” said Ms. Gonzalez-Sussman. “Shareholder activism activity has picked up meaningfully in the past year, and we expect that trend to continue. His experience and perspective working on both sides of activist campaigns — having represented activists and boards of directors — is a compelling offering for our clients.”
Mr. Berenblat is widely recognized as a thought leader, with an extensive collection of articles, research reports and client alerts covering a broad range of topics related to shareholder activism. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.A. from Emory University.
