M&A partner Sonia Nijjar was featured in The Recorder as a Dealmaker of the Year finalist as part of the publication’s 2026 California Legal Awards. In the Q&A, Ms. Nijjar discussed how over the past year she has “focused on leading complex technology transactions in sectors where both the opportunity and the scrutiny are high, particularly semiconductors and AI.” She also talked about some of the challenges she has faced in the sector, such as “navigating ambiguity, particularly around regulatory posture and timing, without slowing down the deal.”
Ms. Nijjar described some of the qualities of a trusted adviser in California, particularly in the technology sector, where “clients expect advisers who can operate at the intersection of legal complexity, business strategy, and speed.”
In addition, she offered advice to those starting out in the field: “The lawyers who stand out are the ones who understand not just the legal points, but what the client is trying to achieve and how to get there.”
