Boong-Kyu (B.K.) Lee has represented issuers, underwriters and U.S. and international financial institutions in a variety of public and private asset-backed securities transactions.

Bio

Mr. Lee has advised participants in structured finance transactions involving the issuance of securities backed by credit card receivables, automotive loans, peer-to-peer loans, pharmaceutical royalties, solar power purchase agreements and data center revenues. He has experience in collateralized debt and loan obligation transactions and has assisted clients in setting up asset-backed commercial paper programs.

Mr. Lee has acted as counsel in connection with whole business and other operating asset securitizations as well as resecuritizations and repackagings of various securities and other financial assets, including those that utilize advanced derivative products. He has provided structuring advice for clients seeking to comply with the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility, Credit Risk Retention Rule, the Volcker Rule and other Dodd-Frank Act regulations, and has contributed to the drafting of related firm memos and comment letters for industry organizations.

Mr. Lee has represented bank and corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, restructurings and general corporate matters and he has advised on major and minor bank acquisitions facilitated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

A native Korean speaker, Mr. Lee has participated as counsel in several major transactions involving Korean entities, including the government of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Electric Power Corporation, and he provides advice to Korean clients on U.S. law issues.

In 2014, Mr. Lee received a Cornerstone Award from Lawyers Alliance for New York, presented annually to attorneys and institutions that have made extraordinary contributions through pro bono legal services to nonprofit organizations. He has repeatedly been selected for inclusion in IFLR1000.
