Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot

Timothy G. Nelson

Litigation partners Timothy Nelson and Marco Schnabl were among the College of Arbitrators and Judges supporting this year’s Skadden, Arps Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot. The competition was aimed at helping future lawyers attain a practical understanding of handling disputes brought on by the rise of international investment, international investment treaties, related domestic legislation and international investment contracts, including obligations between host states and foreign investors and the internationalized procedures for resolving such disputes. It has become one of the world’s leading arbitration moots. Regional rounds were held in August in Asia and South America; this year’s global competition will begin October 24 at Pepperdine University School of Law. The global competition rotates yearly among universities in the U.S., Europe and South America. The winner is awarded the Skadden Trophy.
