WILEF's Ambition: The Fuel for Your Career Engine

On April 12, Los Angeles litigation counsel Stacy Horth-Neubert moderated a panel of women leaders in the legal profession at a program hosted by Skadden and sponsored by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), titled "Ambition: The Fuel for Your Career Engine (Why Talent Isn't Enough)." The panel discussed the role of ambition in their own success and in the success of the more junior lawyers with whom they have interacted. They also discussed the role of risk-taking in one's career trajectory; how to communicate ambition in the face of unconscious bias and in double-bind predicaments; and the impact of generational differences on the way women view their professional goals.

Speakers included Kathleen Brown of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips; Kimberly Buffington of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP; Lily Hughes of Public Storage; retired federal judge Margaret Morrow of Public Counsel; and Louise Nelson of Hilton Worldwide. Stacy serves on the WILEF Global Advisory Board.
