Has the Death Penalty Become an Anachronism? A Discussion of Changing Laws, Practices and Religion on Our Standards of Decency

Ronald J. Tabak

New York special counsel Ronald Tabak conceived of, organized and moderated a program — “Has the Death Penalty Become an Anachronism? A Discussion of Changing Laws, Practices and Religion on Our Standards of Decency” — at the American Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in Chicago on August 2. The program was presented by the association’s Civil Rights and Social Justice Section, whose capital punishment committee Mr. Tabak chairs. The panel discussed changing laws, standards and attitudes toward the death penalty and the growing divergence between the justifications for capital punishment and its implementation.
