On March 11, Skadden held a webinar titled “Emerging Trends in False Labeling and Consumer Class Actions.” Speakers included Washington, D.C. mass torts, insurance and consumer litigation head John Beisner, partners Jessica Miller and Geoffrey Wyatt, and counsel Nina Rose and Jordan Schwartz. The speakers discussed the growing trend of class actions based on companies’ product labeling choices, such as such as “100% natural” and “organic.” Topics included issues company should assess when confronting this emerging trend, such as the use of motions, and marketing and survey research experts; settlement considerations; and California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act and Unfair Competition Law.
