On July 28, Skadden hosted its 11th Annual Conversations on Inclusion. This year’s program, “Artists as Activists,” featured a discussion moderated by New York M&A counsel Demetrius Warrick with Nikki Giovanni, the acclaimed poet, author, essayist and professor who first gained fame as one of the most prominent authors of the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Ms. Giovanni discussed her involvement with the movement and the experiences and thoughtful poetry that embody her activism, and offered her thoughts on how poetry can inspire us and our community. Over the past decade, this event has provided a forum for thought leaders, public figures and community organizations to discuss critical issues related to inclusion and equity.
