On January 23, Skadden hosted the Business Law Section of the New York State Bar Association for its 2023 Annual Meeting. SEC reporting and compliance head Brian Breheny spoke on a panel titled “NY Businesses and Financial Regulation.” The discussion provided important insights regarding the key developments in financial regulation and strategies to help companies stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape.

Washington, D.C. securities enforcement partner Anita Bandy, New York government enforcement and white-collar crime partners Maria Cruz Melendez and David Meister, and Washington, D.C. national security partner Eytan Fisch participated on a panel titled “Securities Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement Update: Government Enforcement and White-Collar Crime Update.” Topics included SEC enforcement trends and priorities, the agency’s active rulemaking agenda and its increased focus on ESG, cybersecurity and private funds; recent developments in DOJ enforcement priorities in investigating and combatting corporate crime; emerging areas of focus for FinCEN and the New York State Department of Financial Services; and a look at expected CFTC trends in 2023.
