On September 24, Washington, D.C. consumer financial services partner Darren Welch spoke on the panel “Fair Lending and Discrimination: Federal and State Developments” at Practising Law Institute’s 31st Annual Consumer Financial Services Institute in Chicago. The panel explored fair lending developments affecting the consumer finance industry, including shifting federal priorities, growing state regulatory activity, the use of machine learning under fair lending and AI laws, and the status of special purpose credit programs under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Housing Act.
