Over the past year, a bipartisan group of federal legislators has been working on a new statute, the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act of 2017, that could dramatically reform CFIUS national security reviews. The proposed legislation seeks to address concerns that foreign entities may be using transactions with U.S. businesses to weaken American technological leadership.
