Energy Storage: Are We There Yet?

This year has proven to be a major turning point for energy storage in the United States. The combination of more affordable and reliable batteries, ambitious state-initiated capacity goals and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Order 841 — which seeks to remove market barriers that prevented “electric storage resources” from participating in wholesale energy markets — has created an ideal environment for energy storage to grow at a fast rate and play an integral role in national energy policy.
