The Skadden team for Brazilian matters includes lawyers who are fluent in Portuguese. We were ranked as a leading law firm in Brazil for international capital markets and corporate/M&A by Chambers Latin America 2015, ranked in the top tier for international capital markets by Chambers Global 2016 and named a top-tier international firm in Brazil in IFLR 1000 2013. We have extensive experience representing Brazilian companies, as both creditors and debtors, in corporate restructuring matters, including cross-border and out-of-court restructurings, as well as prenegotiated plans of reorganization. In addition, the firm routinely handles the securities and banking aspects of restructuring transactions. Skadden also provides advice on insolvency issues in corporate transactions and in connection with litigation-related matters.
The firm has advised international clients participating in the privatization of various sectors of the Brazilian economy, including several international energy companies in connection with power generation and transmission projects and proposed privatizations. We also have represented international telecommunications clients on various projects in Brazil, including proposed privatizations.
In addition, our attorneys regularly provide legal advice on a variety of matters relating to electric power, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, oil, petrochemicals and other energy sources.
