Sarah E. Danehy’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation and dispute resolution, including commercial litigation, securities and class action litigation, and employment-related litigation and dispute resolution. She has also represented clients in connection with alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
Bio
Ms. Danehy has represented clients in state and federal courts around the country and through all stages of litigation, including dispositive motion practice, fact and expert discovery, and appeals.
Representative matters include, among others:
- securing the dismissal of putative securities class action lawsuits against a variety of companies spanning several industries, including life sciences, insurance, internet technology and lithium exploration that were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court of Delaware and New York State’s Commercial Division
- securing the settlement of a breach of contract, fraud and civil conspiracy action on behalf of Betfair Interactive, FanDuel and New Meadowlands Racetrack filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey’s Chancery Division
- securing the settlement of a putative securities fraud class action on behalf of Six Flags and its former CEO and CFO originally filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and in a related derivative action alleging that the defendants issued false and misleading statements concerning the development of a Six Flags theme park in China
- securing the dismissal of a shareholder action on behalf of Johnson & Johnson in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, including an affirmance in the Third Circuit
Ms. Danehy maintains an active pro bono practice and has worked on a variety of matters in this capacity, including achieving a successful resentencing hearing in New Orleans and securing a victory in a federal trial to protect abortion access. She is particularly focused on matters concerning women’s rights, including advocating for incarcerated domestic violence survivors.
