Marco Caffuzzi’s practice includes a range of real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, real estate development projects, joint ventures, leasing, and all types of real estate-related financings and loan restructurings and workouts.


Mr. Caffuzzi’s practice includes a number of development-related representations, including:

  • Moynihan Station Development Corporation and Empire State Development in connection with the redevelopment by a joint venture between The Related Companies and Vornado of the Farley Post Office Building and Moynihan Station in New York;
  • Silverstein Properties, Inc. in connection with numerous commercial, residential and mixed-use development projects and investment platforms, including (i) all aspects of the redevelopment, financing and leasing of Towers 2, 3, 4 and 7 at the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, (ii) an investment platform for the development of properties in central and eastern Europe, and (iii) acquisitions, joint ventures and financings of various development projects on a nationwide basis;
  • Howard Hughes Corporation in connection with negotiations with the city of New York for the expansion, redevelopment and financing of the South Street Seaport situated in lower Manhattan;
  • Mercedes-Benz Manhattan, Inc. in a build-to-suit transaction for its flagship Manhattan showroom and a related 1031 Exchange;
  • Apollo Real Estate Advisors in its investment in the Time Warner Center located at Columbus Circle in New York City;
  • Two Trees Management in connection with (i) the donation of a vintage carousel to Brooklyn Bridge Park, (ii) the development of a stable for the NYPD Mounted Unit, (iii) the development of a middle school facility for the NYC Department of Education, (iv) the acquisition of a development site in the BAM cultural district in Brooklyn from the city of New York, (v) the negotiation of certain agreements with the New York City Parks Department relating to the Domino Sugar Refinery development in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and (vi) a joint venture for the development of a hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; and
  • The Clarett Group in numerous joint ventures and development projects in New York, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.

Mr. Caffuzzi also regularly represents clients in connection with real estate-related financings, such as JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. in connection with numerous construction financings, including the origination of a $1.195 billion senior construction loan and a $475 million mezzanine construction loan to Triple Five Group (Canada) for the development of the America Dream retail, entertainment and amusement project located in northern New Jersey, including negotiation of complex intercreditor arrangements between the senior and mezzanine lenders, and representation of the senior lenders in connection with intercreditor arrangements with the trustee under an $800 million PILOT bond financing; Deutsche Bank AG in connection with the restructuring of a construction loan for a condominium conversion project located in Brooklyn; Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in connection with the $720 million acquisition and sale-leaseback financing of an office building complex in Westchester County, New York; Silverstein Properties, Inc. in the Liberty Bond issuances relating to 3, 4 and 7 World Trade Center in unique municipal bond/CMBS execution structures; and The Georgetown Company in connection with the $700 million CMBS financing of the Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Caffuzzi’s experience with the acquisition, disposition and leasing of commercial real estate properties includes transactions for Han’s Holdings, LLC, 2U, Inc., Sony Corporation of America; Felcor Lodging Trust; Boston Properties, Inc.; Mercedes-Benz North America; The McGraw Hill Companies; Normandy Real Estate Partners; Silverstein Properties, Inc.; Brooklyn Friends School; and Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization.
