
Joseph L. Choe
Bio
Joseph L. Choe represents clients in litigation and international arbitration, providing counsel on complex commercial and investment disputes arising from cross-border transactions.
Recently, Mr. Choe has represented:
- a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer in a dispute against a U.S. aircraft manufacturer regarding the termination of a multibillion-dollar merger agreement and the termination of a large joint venture agreement
- a French company in a large dispute governed by French law, venued in Paris
- a Peruvian client in a maritime dispute based in the U.K.
- a U.S. pharmaceutical company in parallel arbitration and state court proceedings
Mr. Choe also is dedicated to pro bono matters. He frequently works with Spanish-speaking clients and has obtained asylum for individuals who are fleeing ethnic, religious and political persecution. Notably, he also successfully represented a New York Times reporter from Afghanistan who sought asylum in the U.S. during the 2021 Taliban offensive. In addition, he has experience in cases brought under the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Choe was a management consultant. He has also worked at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a chamber of commerce in Chile.
