Bio

Clare Lilek focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, data protection and cybersecurity, and investigations. Ms. Lilek has represented clients in civil cases at all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery and trials. She has experience counseling on a variety of matters, including disputes related to commercial contracts, cybersecurity policies and compliance, and common law claims.

Ms. Lilek’s representations include, among others:

  • financial institutions in 1933 Securities Act claims
  • a regional airline in a contract dispute
  • a private agricultural company facing Rule 2004 discovery in bankruptcy court
  • an automation and technology company conducting internal investigations after a cybersecurity incident
  • a nationwide sports organization facing state law claims and appeals from an individual litigant
  • a cybersecurity software company responding to regulatory inquiries and enforcement

Ms. Lilek maintains an active pro bono practice. She has represented survivors of sexual violence under the Illinois Gender Violence Act and individuals seeking asylum and change of status before the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services.

Ms. Lilek participates in Skadden’s mentorship program for junior associates and is active in the firm’s summer program for prospective associates, as well as other recruiting initiatives.
