Project Development & Financings

  • the borrower in connection with the US$1.4 billion financing of a road tunnel under the Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey, and a shareholder in connection with an IFC financing for its shareholder contributions;
  • joint venture partners in connection with the development of a portfolio of solar power projects in Cameroon;
  • a borrower in its negotiations of two credit facilities, one with the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank and the other with a syndicate of commercial banks, to finance its aluminium operations in Romania;
  • a borrower in its negotiation of an IFC financing of the development of certain bauxite mining assets in Sierra Leone;
  • a supplier in its negotiation of an aluminium supply contract with Airbus;
  • ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 in connection with the SACE-backed financing of the refurbishment of the Maritza East III 840 MW power station in Bulgaria and ongoing project, financing and market restructuring issues;
  • Société Générale as agent for the Al Kamil power project in Oman;
  • Alro S.A. and Vimetco N.V. in connection with multiple financings for their aluminium project in Romania, including multi-layered financings and export credit financings, ISDA hedging, an EBRD A/B loan refinancing of both levels of debt, and subsequent subordinated facility and refinancing;
  • the Republic of South Sudan in connection with oil and gas issues relating to its secession from the Republic of Sudan and the establishment of a national petroleum and gas corporation; and
  • advisers to local governments in respect of proposed petroleum laws in Kenya, Uganda and (in French) the Democratic Republic of Congo.


  • the seller in its proposed sale of certain oil and gas assets in Europe;
  • a U.S. buyer of gas storage assets in Germany and the Middle East;
  • JP Morgan in its acquisition of a 50 percent joint venture interest in Sonnedix, the owner of solar power plants across the globe, including a large portfolio of solar farms located throughout France;
  • AES Corporation in connection with the sale by a co-venturer of a joint venture interest in a power project in Jordan;
  • Vimetco N.V. in connection with its acquisition of bauxite mining assets in Sierra Leone; and
  • the sellers in two subsequent sales of the 1,200 MW Saltend and 792 MW Damhead Creek gas-fired power plants, both in England.
