Bio

Alexandria Ottens represents clients in diverse and sophisticated real estate matters, with a specific focus on joint venture transactions, real estate investment trust (REIT) formation, structuring and related transactions, financings, and complex acquisitions and dispositions.

Ms. Ottens’ clients include institutional investors, private equity funds, REITs, commercial banks and other financial institutions, asset managers and operators across a variety of industries. She has advised public and private companies in sale and acquisition transactions, including mergers, and stock and asset acquisitions and divestitures. Ms. Ottens represents both lenders and borrowers in connection with her real estate finance practice.

Ms. Ottens’ representations include:

  • a sovereign wealth fund in connection with the formation of a programmatic joint venture to acquire industrial properties across the United States
  • a real estate private equity fund in its formation of a joint venture to acquire a luxury hotel in La Jolla, California, as part of a complicated mixed-use project
  • a real estate private equity fund in its formation of a joint venture to acquire a luxury resort in Napa Valley, California
  • a hospitality firm in its acquisition and financing of a hotel near Chicago O’Hare International Airport
  • a private equity fund in its acquisition and financing of a luxury hotel in Atlanta, Georgia
  • a hospitality firm in its acquisition and financing of a hotel in Seattle, Washington, one of the largest hospitality transactions in the city’s history at the time
  • a real estate investment and hospitality management company in a forward purchase of a multi-property hotel portfolio in Key West, Florida
  • a real estate investment company focused on the senior housing sector in its formation of a joint venture to acquire a portfolio of senior living facilities
  • a national event sponsor in its acquisition and development of a Utah ski resort, the largest by acreage in North America

Ms. Ottens maintains an active pro bono practice serving as the court-appointed guardian ad litem for minors in Cook County Probate Court.
