Bio

Candace Ross Phoenix practices complex civil litigation in state and federal courts, including cases involving securities and shareholder litigation, contract disputes, trade secret misappropriation, class actions, fraud claims and other disputes. Her clients include companies and their officers and directors in a variety of industries, including technology, entertainment, renewable energy and consumer goods.

Among others, Ms. Ross Phoenix has represented:

  • Zillow Group, Inc. and certain of its directors and officers in securities litigation and several stockholder derivative actions asserting claims under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Washington law
  • the underwriters in the IPO of GoodRx in securing the dismissal of a putative class action filed in the Central District of California in connection with the company’s September 2020 IPO. The complaint alleged, among other things, that the GoodRx registration statement contained false or misleading statements related to Amazon’s entry into the prescription drug discount market
  • Tower Semiconductor Ltd. and its affiliates in defending against an action seeking to prematurely terminate its commercial lease
  • Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc. in the defense against $360 million in claims by the litigation trustee for Core Media, Inc.

Ms. Ross Phoenix dedicates a significant portion of her practice to pro bono work, and regularly represents nonprofit clients and individuals. She has published on discrimination in the jury selection process in an article titled “Peremptory Challenge Bill Awaits Governor’s Signature.”

While at UCLA Law School, Ms. Ross Phoenix was associate editor of The National Black Law Journal and a Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review.
