Harvey R. Uris
Harvey R. Uris leads Skadden’s global real estate practice and has extensive experience in real estate-related capital markets and syndicated loan transactions (and other credit facilities), public and private real estate investment trusts (REITs), commercial mortgage-backed loan origination and securitization, as well as other real estate financing vehicles.

Bio

Mr. Uris has handled numerous mortgage and mezzanine loan foreclosure and enforcement actions; workouts, restructurings of secured loans and credit facilities for real estate single-asset and/or operating companies; and formation and investment by U.S., offshore and cross-border real estate private equity funds.

Mr. Uris also has experience with domestic and offshore private placements under Rule 144A and Regulation S of investment grade and noninvestment grade notes collateralized by real estate assets. He handles bondable and other credit tenant lease transactions; sale-leasebacks; off balance sheet synthetic lease transactions; financing transactions in compliance with Islamic (Sharia) law; and the acquisition, financing, sale, exchange and other disposition of office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, casinos, multifamily dwellings and other property types. He has worked on multiproperty and multistate mortgage financing; single- and multiple-tier mezzanine, preferred equity and so-called bifurcated secured financing transactions; multiple-tier intercreditor relationships; partnerships; limited liability companies; U.S. and international joint ventures; real estate development; and corporate headquarters leasing.

 

He has handled workouts, asset dispositions and recapitalizations, capital markets and securitizations, syndicated and other loan financings, formation of U.S. and global private equity funds, and take-private transactions for numerous clients, including Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., Fortress Investment Group, affiliates of Centro Properties Limited and Centro Properties Group, S.L. Green Realty Corp., Gramercy Capital Corp., MSD Capital, L.P., HEI Hospitality, Inc., The Edward Thomas Companies, Dune Real Estate Partners, TPG Capital, L.P., Square Mile Capital Management LLC, AREA Property Partners, RREEF, Starwood Capital Group, LNR Property LLC and affiliates of Apollo Investment Corporation, among others.
