Or-el Vaknin represents clients in a broad range of complex civil litigation in both state and federal courts. He has extensive experience that spans matters involving contract disputes, business torts, unfair competition, government enforcement, product liability, fraud claims, class actions and jury trials.

Mr. Vaknin’s notable representations include, among others:

• the operator of a social media platform in a consumer class action litigation involving claims of fraud, unfair competition, false advertising and RICO violations
• CME Group, Inc. and The Board of Trade of the City of Chicago Inc. in securing a unanimous defense verdict in a multibillion-dollar class action jury trial in Cook County, Illinois. The case centered on claims related to the transformation of futures trading from open outcry pit trading to electronic trading platforms
• Monsanto Company in a unanimous defense verdict (after just three hours of deliberation) following a seven-week jury trial in Cook County, Illinois. The case involved four plaintiffs who claimed they developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma from exposure to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide and fire-retardant additives known as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
• Frontgate Marketing, Inc. and related entities in putative consumer class action litigation asserting claims for misleading advertising and unfair competition
• DePuy Orthopaedics and Johnson & Johnson in securing a unanimous defense verdict (after two hours of deliberation) following a two-week jury trial concerning alleged defects in metal-on-metal hip implants

Mr. Vaknin is also deeply committed to pro bono work. Notably, he represented an individual before the Ninth Circuit, securing a successful appeal that reversed the denial of asylum, withholding of removal and Convention Against Torture claims by the Board of Immigration Appeals.
