Skadden achieved a major victory for CEMEX Inc. in class action antitrust lawsuits brought by cement and ready-mix concrete buyers, who alleged that our client and other cement producers committed antitrust violations relating to these products in Florida beginning in 1998. On October 12, Judge Cecilia Altonaga in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida granted the defendants’ motion in part, dropping all claims relating to cement and limiting all other claims to a period encompassing less than two years (mid-2008 through 2009).
