Johnson Matthey Secures Victory

Skadden secured a victory in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in a patent infringement dispute brought against client Johnson Matthey, Inc., a manufacturer of catalyst materials and supplier of active pharmaceutical ingredients to drug companies. In the dispute, brand-name drug company Shire Plc sought to prevent Johnson Matthey from supplying active pharmaceutical ingredients to generic drug companies and to prevent them from launching a generic version of the drug Vyvanse. On January 21, the district court entered final judgment in Johnson Matthey's favor and dismissed Shire's claims with prejudice.
